My name is Duane Dawson, and I am a WA bankruptcy attorney.  I am not like a lot of attorneys, I am probably a lot more like you.  I grew up in a middle class family in and around St. Louis, MO.  My father was a commercial interior designer, and my mother was a registered nurse.  Like you, I know what it is like to be in a tough spot, and to need help to work it out. I see myself as a defender of the individual rights of regular people like me.  I have always had an itch to stand up to bullies, and I really enjoy sticking up for my clients’ interests.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and dog, and spend as much time as possible outdoors.  I love living  in Washington State, and chose to move to Western Washington after law school to build my practice.  Being outdoors here brings back the best memories of my childhood, without the harsh winters and summers that come along with growing up in the Midwest.

Because I am not like other lawyers, I do business differently as well.  You wont ever see me in a suit unless I am in court or attending a meeting of creditors.  I don’t work out of an expensive office, and I keep my overhead low.  I can meet my clients at the courthouse, or over a coffee, or even over the phone or online.  Client comfort and efficiency are paramount.  I remain involved in every step of my clients’ cases, and I return phone calls.

I am a graduate of the California State University at San Marcos and the University of San Diego School of Law where I received a CALI award for excellence, and participated in the Civil Practicum.  I interned with multiple public defense agencies, where I assisted in providing defense for people accused of very serious crimes.  I was admitted to the practice of law in 2009 in the State of Washington and am admitted in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.  I am a proud member of the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, Snohomish County Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.  I am also an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice.
